Fellow Shooters,
On behalf of the Ohio State Trapshooting Association, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone
a successful and fun 2011-2012 shooting season. Your O.S.T.A. Board of Directors is already hard at work on next
year’s state shoot plans, as well as new ideas to get shooters out to our member gun clubs. The very popular Champion
of Champions program is back again this year. I sure hope I can win one of those beautiful Shamrock hand tooled,
leather bags this year! Watch for the new Gun Club Team Challenge event this year. Similar to our Champion of
Champions program, the Team Challenge will allow gun clubs to host qualifier shoots and name a team to represent
them at the 2012 Ohio State Shoot. The five members of the winning team will each receive $200.00 and the sponsoring
gun club will receive $500.00! Hopefully this will help motivate all of us to get out and shoot at some of the gun clubs
that we may have missed in the past few years.
I wanted to relate to you a story of a gentleman I had the privilege of shooting with at the Grand American this year.
This gentleman was from Perth, Australia and had spent more than 32 hours in airplanes to get from his home, to the Grand!
I will certainly think about that the next time I grumble about having to travel an extra hour or two to get to a particular shoot.
He also told me how difficult it is for him purchase firearms back home. His story makes me appreciate just how lucky we
are here in the U.S.A. when it comes to our freedoms and the ability to participate in trapshooting and other shooting sports.
Please take advantage of these freedoms by getting out and shooting as often as you can. Take every opportunity to thank
the men and women of our armed forces that have fought, and continue to fight, for our freedoms.
I wish to thank the shooters of Northwest Ohio for electing me to represent them on the O.S.T.A. Board of Directors.
I would also like to thank my fellow Directors, Secretary and Treasurer for allowing me the honor of being President of the
O.S.T.A. this year. Trapshooting has brought me great friendships and joy over the years, and I feel blessed that I have the
opportunity to give a little back to the sport that has given me so much.
See you all at the shoots!
